Pro Guide: Creating the Perfect Environment for Bambu lab ABS

Unlike PLA, which loves a cool breeze, Bambu lab ABS thrives in a warm, still environment. If the layers cool too quickly or unevenly, the plastic can shrink and pull away from the bed. Follow these steps for professional results.

1. Keep the Heat In

Bambu lab ABS requires a warm ambient temperature to prevent "warping" (the corners lifting) and "cracking" (layers splitting).

  • The Pro Tip: If you are using a Bambu Lab X1 or P1S, keep the front glass door closed and the top glass cover on.

  • Why? This traps the heat generated by the build plate, creating a warm "chamber" that allows the Bambu lab ABS to cool slowly and uniformly.

2. Pre-Heat the Chamber

Don't start printing on a cold machine!

  • The Pro Tip: Set your bed temperature to 90°C–100°C and let the printer sit idle for about 10–15 minutes before starting your Bambu lab ABS print.

  • Why? This pre-warms the internal air, ensuring the first layer of your Bambu lab ABS stays firmly bonded to the plate.

3. Manage the Fans

Too much wind is the enemy of a good ABS print.

  • The Pro Tip: Ensure your Auxiliary Fan is turned OFF and the Part Cooling Fan is kept at a minimum (usually 10-30%).

  • Why? Blasts of cold air will cause the Bambu lab ABS to contract instantly, leading to failed prints. The goal is a steady, gentle cooling process.

4. Use the Right Build Plate

  • The Pro Tip: Use the Bambu Engineering Plate or the Textured PEI Plate with a thin layer of glue stick or liquid glue.

  • Why? Even with the best enclosure, Bambu lab ABS has high "shrinkage" forces. A dedicated adhesive ensures the part stays pinned to the plate until the job is done.

5. Safety and Ventilation

  • The Pro Tip: Ensure your printer's carbon filter is active, or print in a well-ventilated room.

  • Why? While our Bambu lab ABS is a low-odor formula, it is still an industrial plastic. Using the built-in air filtration system on your Bambu printer ensures a clean workspace

  • If you find any damage to the product upon receipt, please contact  us within 7 days to report the problem and provide an unboxing video as evidence. CTS 3D will provide product replacement/refund based on the information obtained. If no unboxing video is provided CTS 3D will provide warranty repair service.

    The request for return is reviewed by CTS 3D Kolkata and we may approve or reject or request for more details about the issue.
